PNG light weight boxer Lui Magaiva is set to muscle up against his opponent Rocky Ogden in Australia today in the Boxing Bazaar 4 event. The fight is the semi-main event taking place this evening, 7PM at the Greek Club in Brisbane.
It will be the first international appearance for both fighters and they are already on the edge to step into the ring.
Team Maigava left the country under Oceania Fight Promotions (OFP) with OFP Managing Director Maryanne Millie and Coach Charles.
PNG’s Lui ‘the lightning star’ Magaiva told Sunday Bulletin after passing the weigh-in yesterday that it will be a “War in Australia” when he steps into the ring.
“I am focused. I left my country to come here and I will go into war with him (Ogden). I just want the country to be at my back tomorrow (today),” Magaiva said.
He said he is not underestimating his opponent and will put all his effort in the ring and let the boxing judge decide the outcome.
The 33 year old boxer from Veifa village in Central province has one of the lighting fighters in the rings of Port Moresby and the outskirts of Central province. He has two professional bouts under his name however he has been in several local rings. His dancing feet and flashing punches earn him his nick name.
Australia international Ogden on the other corner is no ordinary fighter. He made his debut a year before Magiva in 2021 with three bouts on his name.
The atmosphere is already heated between the two fighters who are eager to step into the ring for their international debut. However it will be a lot of surprise encountered when the two put out what they have in store to come victorious.
