NAWAEB District Chief Executive Officer, Mr Buds Botike, announced during a site visit to Ologidu village on Saturday (15/04/23) that Nawaeb District is on track to establish its Five-Year Development Plan.
According to Mr Botike, all wards in the respective Local Level Government (LLG) of the district will receive funding allocations for specific projects they require.
This will set the course for the new Nawaeb District Five Year Development Plan, which will encompass all priority areas of development for the district during this term of Government.
The CEO emphasized that the Nawaeb District Development Authority lacked an aligned Five-Year Plan that was in line with the National Government’s Medium Term Development Plans. The lack of alignment resulted in the inability to work towards reaching development goals.
“MP for Nawaeb Hon Theo Pelgen, as chairman of NDDA, has created a working task force team who will be reaching out to the people at the village level. We are visiting Ward by Ward and will see first-hand what the development needs of the people are,” said Mr Botike.
A team consisting of Officers from NDDA, Works Department, and key Government Stakeholders from Waigani spent five days in the district last week to align the Nawaeb Five-Year Development Plan with the soon-to-be-launched National Government’s Medium Term Development Plan IV -2023 to 2027.
“The MP is focused that the Nawaeb Five-Year Development Plan has to be tied with Marape/Rosso Governments MTDP 4. This should enable every key project in the district to be developed during his term in Parliament,” Mr Botike said.
The CEO reaffirmed that he is focused on traveling the full length and breadth of the district to get a comprehensive outlook of each ward and assess development projects properly.
Mr Botike added that all relevant National Departments, such as National Planning & Monitoring, Finance, and Treasury, have been communicated with to align all plans of the district with national development goals and agendas.
Once all plans are finalized this year, the Five-Year Development Plan will be launched to benefit the people of Nawaeb District.
Meanwhile, Ologidu Village in the Ward of Labuta LLG in Nawaeb will receive a K100,000 water supply project and health facility.
The funding allocation of K100, 000 has already been approved by the Nawaeb District Development Authority, and works are to commence as soon as possible.
“K100, 000 was approved by NDDA Board, and this project is in line with Hon Pelgen, whose vision is to develop the District from Ward Level up,” Mr Botike said.
