Young journalist Emmanuel Eralia is a young and vibrant community ambassador who has been meaningfully supporting community, social and sports gatherings throughout the Southern Highlands Province.
Originally, Eralia is from the Kagua Erave district and is currently working as a journalist with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Enga Province.
For the past few years, Eralia has been sponsoring graduation ceremonies, buying school prizes for dux awards and continuously assisting community sports throughout his Kagua Erave district and Southern Highlands Province as a whole.
Eralia opened the New Year on a high note when he donated K500.00 cash to support the Olco Butterflies as they prepare to participate in the Southern Highlands Province Rugby 9s Tournament 5th Edition.
The kind gesture of the cash donation coincidenced with presentation of a new jersey set by SP PNG Hunters winger Solomon Wane.
Also present to witness the occasion were PNG representative players Brandon Nima and his wife Belinda Gwasamun,former Hela Wigmen skipper Melvin Paul and Junior Kumuls Anda Endaso.
Journalist Eralia commended Solomon Wane for being a good role model and always taking the initiative to give back to his community.
Eralia also encouraged the aspiring rugby league players to work hard, set goals and work towards them with dedication, hardwork and commitment.
PNG Hunters player Brandon Nima also presented K200 cash to support the team and pledged his ongoing involvement in the team.
The young journalist mentioned that the Ward 3 of the Mendi Urban LLG is made of Paga Hill, Magani Police Barracks, Health, 3 Kona, JVB, One Way, Wara Baret and Old Compound which were severely affected by the recent election violence but rugby league has been keeping the community together.
The Olco Butterflies have been a household name in Papua New Guinea Rugby League scooping up more than 4 titles in the Ipatas Cup and went through to various finals attendance, 11 consecutive gold pass winners in SHP challenge and has produce more than 50 intercity players.
After graduating from the Divine Word University in 2014 with a Bachelors degree in Journalism, Eralia has been actively participating in community responsibilities and social gatherings throughout his Kagua Erave district and the Southern Highlands Province as a whole.
Eralia has also been spearheading law and order campaigns against tribal fighting in Enga Province and generously gives to church groups and helps promote the rural talents in sports.
Whilst working in Enga Province, he continues to share his passion for journalism positively engaging with the people on the ground on a daily basis.
