VICE Chairman to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference
(CPPCC), His Excellency Hu Chunchua, has made a historic visit to the National
Parliament yesterday.
He was accompanied by his team of delegates to meet the Acting Speaker of
the Parliament, Hon. Koni Iguan.
Prior to the meeting, the team, accompanied by Mr. Iguan had the opportunity
to tour around the parliament to see some of the most significant features of
the National Parliament.
Mr. Iguan explained the different divisions in parliament before leading the
team off to an in-house bilateral dialogue at the State Function Room.
Assistant Speaker and Member for Mul Baiyer Lumusa, Hon. Jacob Maki, was
also present during the event.
The team was given a warmth welcome in front of the parliament as they
entered through the Boulevard to have the dialogue with the Acting Speaker.
H.E. Chunchua acknowledged Mr. Iguan for making his time available to
warmly welcome his team of delegates to the National Parliament.
He strongly emphasized on the important ties that they share with the
Independent State of Papua New Guinea.
Chunchua appreciated their work of collaborations in promoting mutual
beneficial cooperation and drawing bilateral relations.
“National Committee has maintained long standing friendly ties with Papua
New Guinea and we have done a lot of carrying out experience in promoting
common issues,” he said.

Chunchua added that China’s visit to PNG is not the first time as there were
previous visits in the past in 2013 and 2001 respectively.
Meanwhile, Chunchua and his delegates are expected to meet with Prime
Minister James Marape.
They are also scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Butuka Academy as well
as launching the Digital Television Transformation project at the National
Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) Headquarter before they depart the country
on tomorrow (Friday).
