THE Vice-Chancellor of Pacific Adventist University, Professor Lohi Matainaho has challenged the outgoing students of the UPNG Adventist Tertiary Students Association to cultivate an attitude of honesty and to become reliable decision-makers in their future endeavours.
Professor Matainaho emphasized the significance of decision-making and the impact of their choices on their future paths.
A total of 68 graduands from both the Taurama Adventist Student Association and the UPNG ATSA were farewelled by fellow students, along with the UPNG and Hope Hill churches.
This annual event, hosted by the churches and the Public Campus Ministry, serves to recognize the contributions of students to the ministry and the church during their years of study.
Acknowledging the rapid changes and developments occurring both nationally and globally, Professor Matainaho reminded the graduands that their knowledge will be tested and that authenticity is essential.
“You must be truthful and honest in what you do. I urge you to set your mind to what you want to achieve, guided by your beliefs and faith,” he said.
He encouraged students to trust in God, stating that faith can provide light and strength in navigating life’s choices.
Drawing from his experiences in various organizations, he urged future professionals and leaders to embrace creativity and innovation.
“I like to encourage you to be optimistic about the future, and in whatever you can do. There are a lot of pessimism that our world is gloomy but when you place your faith God and hold on to your hope, there is a better future for all of us,’’ he stated.
Professor Matainaho stressed the importance of belief in life and its inherent goodness, which he described as a powerful motivator to pursue one’s dreams.
In recognition of today’s demanding society, he encouraged the graduands to channel their energy and passion toward success.
“In this digital age, the year of artificial intelligence and automation, we must sit at the control sit,’’ he said.
