THE Hela PHA has Sworn-in its 3rd Board Members in a low key ceremony at Airways Hotel, Port Moresby yesterday.
The Board to be led by Chairman Mr. Brett Darley, who is the Executive Vice President – Eastern Australia and Papua New Guinea, Santos. The full 3rd board members are;

- Rev Olene Yawai, Church Rep, Deputy Chairman
- Ms Sally Pate, Woman Rep
- Mr. Marago Daguba, PA Hela, Ex-officio,
- Peter Pindan, Department Health Rep
- Mr. Samuel Koiama, National Content Manager, ExxonMobil (PNG)
- Mr. John Tipa, District Affairs
- Mr. Amos Libe, Local community rep
- Mr. Roger Harape, Local Community Rep, and
- Mr. Gedion Jack Karali, Local Business Rep
Governor Undialu at the swearing-in ceremony, congratulated Chairman Brett Darley and his Board Members and thanked them for taking the responsibility.
Governor Undialu also thanked the outgoing Chairman and Board Members led by Peter Botten, Board Members Ms Janet Koriama, Mr. Tony Kendikendi, Mr. Peter Curtain, Thomas Hengepe, and Pasco Kase for their unwavering support and commitment to the PHA and Hela people.
He also thanked hardworking PHA CEO Dr. James Kitwa and all his staff, Doctors, Nurses, support staff and special mention to workers from the Church run health service providers for working so hard under difficult circumstances and raising Hela PHA standing to 5th in the country.
He also passed special appreciation to all resources development partners such as Santos Foundation, ExxonMobil, MRDC, KPHL, etc for their support over the years and welcomed continued support.
Governor Undialu in his final remarks, thanked Hon. Elias Kavapore, Minister for Health and his Department Staff for finally getting the Board Sworn-in after their term expired in 2022.
Governor Undialu offered his commitment to work partnership with the PHA and all stakeholders.
Governor laid out clear direction to the Board and Management of Hela PHA to undertake following;
- Ensure Hela PHA continue to improve from the current 5th Ranking,
- Help deliver the proposed Level 5 Provincial Hospital at Tari,
- Improve the 4 District Hospitals and other health centers, sub-health centers, and aid posts throughout the province,
- Implement the Ambulance service in the province,
- Always be accountable to the Minister of Health and Secretary of Health and Hela Provincial Government.
