THE Koroba Lake Kopiago District Developmemt Authority (KLKDDA) has lived up to its commitment made last year by presenting K1 million cheque to the Department of Community Development and Religion (DCDR) to build a two storey District Community Development Center in the district.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed last year (2024) between the two parties on the understanding that the Department will pay 50% and KLKDDA will pay 50% to build two storey Community Center building.

Minister for Coffee and Member for Koroba Kopiago, Hon. William Bando said the event is important and is a testament of the MoU singed in the 15th of October, 2024.
“Through the MoU, we committed to provide K2 million as a counter funding for this two-floor state of art building in one of the most remote places in our country,” Minister Bando said.
“I’ve travelled the length and breadth of this country. I am proud and I commend all the predecessors in my electorate and now it’s my turn.
“This building will address all the issues that we have. Law & Order, Family Sexual Violence Issues, Community Development Issues, and SMEs issues,” he said.
“I am very proud that we’ve been able to source this funding. We are happy to present the first half of our commitment of K2 million.
“The cheque is with us; the ball is in your court now. We are quite excited to come here and present our part of bargain. Not much to say, we are ready to work and we are ready to see the building come up,” said Minister Bando.
Secretary for Department of Community Development and Religion, Mr. Jerry Ubase praised the KLKDDA for living up to their bargain and to provide their first quarter of the counter funds.
“The Member has promised to deliver us K1 million, he kept his promise and has delivered,” he said.
“The money will go towards the construction; we will build a two-storey building materials. The top floor will house administrative staff, officers and managers.
“The ground floor which will have the conference facilities which will house Civil Registry, Child and Family Services (CFS), Gender Based Violence (GBV), Civil Society Organization (CSO) and churches. These are some of the major programs that will be housed on the ground floor,” Mr. Ubase said.
“These programs are specifically tailored to assisting the district in terms of programs, training or advocacy programs that will be undertaken at Koroba Lake Kopiago,” he added.
Mr Ubase further highlighted that the two-storey building will have 30 work stations for all the officers inside, and will also have development partners desk that will be based in Koroba Lake Kopiago.
