At the fall of the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance (SILAG) graduation ceremony, The CEO of Jiwaka Provincial Health Authority (JPHA), graduated with an advance diploma in leadership and governance.

Thaddeus Turi Kinah, celebrated a significant milestone in his career as his professional growth was celebrated by family, friends and colleagues which highlighted his commitment to improving leadership and governance to ensure health service is managed and coordinated well in the province.

“My achievement is not just a personal one, but also a shared success with JPHA and its community partnerships. Now it is time to give back and improve the healthcare system in the province” He remarked.

Thaddeus passion for healthcare began in his childhood, sparked by the dedication of a hardworking Health Extension Officer (HEO) at Kimil Health Centre, North Waghi in Jiwaka Province where he comes from.

“I was just a boy, but the way this HEO connected with the community and worked tirelessly to provide care inspired me greatly,” Kinah recalled.

That early exposure laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong mission to improve the health and well-being of his people.

When he started his career in public health, he had been more willing to take chances and make mistakes as it was important for him to learn from his experiences and better himself in becoming a more reliable asset.

As he worked his way through the ranks over the years, he always showed his commitment with a people first mindset in everything he approached just as he experienced through the hardworking HEO from his childhood days.

Since taking the helm as the CEO of JPHA, Thaddeus Turi Kinah has demonstrated remarkable leadership, steering the authority through multiple changes that improved its operations.

“Becoming a CEO is not a decoration but it is a big responsibility. It requires all your efforts with a passion to serve the people,” he said.

“Healthcare is about lives, every kina is an opportunity to provide better care for our people. My goal has always been to create a better health system that provides for the needs of our communities in the province.” Kinah explained.

During his graduation dinner, Turi was congratulated for his achievement and praised for his efforts as a people’s servant and stronghold in his province and community by his family, JPHA representatives, his Tribesman.

Speaking during the dinner, Deputy Board Chairman of JPHA Mr. Robert Mun spoke of Turi’s respectful nature and leadership qualities that have earned him the admiration of many.

“Thaddeus leadership style is different, he engages with the local communities on a daily basis and has a broad understanding of the people’s needs. He ensures that health services are delivered,”

“Under his leadership, JPHA’s revenue blossomed from K6.2 million to almost K50 million, a feat that speaks volumes about his effective management skills,”

“In his capable hands, the future of Jiwaka’s health authority looks brighter than ever.” Mun said.

Looking ahead, Turi’s time at SILAG has provided him with valuable approaches which he plans to action into JPHA’s operations. His vision for the future of healthcare in Jiwaka includes expanding health services throughout communities in the province and improving the human resource capacity within JPHA.

“We have made some big strides for Jiwaka’s health sector, but our work is far from over. I am committed to continuing this journey, and make every person in Jiwaka have access to the healthcare they deserve.” 

“I can only accomplish this when my staff are fully capable of doing their tasks effectively. So, one of my main challenges is to improve the human resource of JPHA in order to achieve our goals.” He affirmed.
