TO strengthen education leadership and policy implementation across Papua New Guinea, the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) officially swore in 17 new members of the Teaching Council during a ceremony held at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby today.
Acting Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Mr. Samson Wangihomie, welcomed the new members and praised their commitment to serve.
“I want to thank you all for accepting our invitation and for being here to witness the swearing-in of our new Teaching Council members,” Mr. Wangihomie said.
He emphasized that the gathering was not only to mark the official swearing-in but also to reactivate the Council and introduce attendees to the roles and functions of the Teaching Service Commission.
The newly appointed council comprises 17 members—five women and twelve men—who bring a wealth of experience and passion to their new roles.
“Our first priority is to help the council members become familiar with the teaching service, including its roles and responsibilities,” Mr. Wangihomie stated.
“In the second meeting, we will focus on what they can do to support teachers and how they can help reinforce teaching service policies, working closely with TSC advisors in all provinces.”
The swearing-in signals a renewed effort to bridge national education policy with classroom realities through active collaboration.

This is are way forward, the council will be working closely with TSC reps in different provinces, which will save time and work efficiency … welcoming information and it’s a milestone in the education system…
