THE Filipino Association of Papua New Guinea (FAPNG) will partner the NCD Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) to conduct free medical examinations for residents in the nation’s capital at Sir John Guise Stadium this weekend.
The program was initiated by the Philippines Embassy and FAPNG with the support from NCD Governor’s office and would include medical check-ups, HIV awareness seminars and blood-letting drive.
Philippines Ambassador to PNG Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian said: “FAPNG introduced the initiative to me early this year and I really motivated them that this is something very beneficial to the community.
“We, the Philippine Embassy, will be willing to support and be part of the notable initiative for the benefit of those unfortunate ones in PNG.”
FAPNG president Jonathan Plasabas said: “This event will deliver free medical consultation, treatment, HIV/AIDS awareness and health education particularly those in need of health care.”
NCD Governor Powes Parkop spoke of the support his office and NCDPHA would provide during the examination.
“There will be a strategic plan to ensure that everything comes together, the standard and quality of health care and services,” he said.
NCDPHA chief executive officer Dr Robin Oge commended FAPNG for taking the initiative to help those who cannot afford medical bills.
“This also demonstrate the importance of partners and stakeholders in delivering healthcare in the city and, the Philippine Embassy and FA are demonstrating the best support to conduct this health awareness and medical examination “We have a lot of challenges in the city, we have lifestyle disease, women cancer, diabetes, Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV raising rapidly,” Dr Oge said.
