MORESBY North-East District Development Authority is partnering with the NCD Provincial Health Authority to support health care services in the district.
District administrator Davies Kia outlined their plan for the health sector that will align with NCDPHA’s plans.
“Now that we will have provincial hospital, district hospital we are building at Nine Mile and it’s at scoping stage, we also have three urban clinics and we will work with PHA to improve and upgrade these facilities,” Mr Kia said.
“We are planning to build three community aid posts. People are the government’s responsibility so we must bring those basic services. We also have a plan of giving ambulances to clinics and since we have emergency clinic here at Six Mile, we will give one ambulance.”
Moresby North-East project manager Robin Elfau said: “Member for Moresby North-East and his team will continue to support the health care for our people. Health is everybody’s business, if we can see the importance of health in our electorate and if we put more input, I believe people will be healthy and productive.”
NCDPHA CEO Dr Robin Oge said: “We are focused in Six Mile Clinic because Moresby North-East has the highest population burden and Six Mile Clinic is serving majority of these patients. At NCD level the Governor is pushing for the level 5 hospital, project steering committee and project management team for the hospital have made known.” he said.
