The Teaching Service Commission concluded a two–weeks Teacher Appointment Management System Update and Consultation Workshop on Friday, 1, August, 2025.
Education officers from the Highlands Region had a hands-on workshop on updating information include;
-Teacher Appointment Acting and Substantive
-Teaching Positions and Teacher Manpower Audit
-Teaching Positions and School Structural alignment
-Teacher Recruitment Admission
-Teaching allowance with school locality and allowance specification
-Teachers monthly returns and performance
monitoring
-Teachers’ recreational leave fare and monitoring
-Teachers exit planning and manpower inventory
Teaching Service Commission Chairman Samson Wangihomie thanked all the participants for attending this important workshop, stating that teachers’ business is a shared responsibility.
“This activity will help the teacher appointment process,” he said.
Chimbu Provincial Education Advisor Kutna Bepwick on behalf the participant commended the Teaching Service Commission for conducting this important workshop.
Ms. Bepwick thanked the Commission for carrying out this workshop for the Highlands Region.
“It is good to have hands on experience of what is happening, we are going into a lot of changes for our teachers as well as for our children in our schools,” she said.
Ms Bepwick said it is important to have real time data on hand.
“We are now conducting online appointments and exploring various areas. Data management is crucial, especially in Papua New Guinea, where we are experiencing significant changes and challenges in managing our data effectively,” she said.
Ms Bepwick said the workshop was focused on teacher appointments and integrating other important areas such as Higher Duty Allowance (HDA), Disadvantage School Allowances (DSA) etc.
She added that this comprehensive approach allowed the participants to have a holistic view of each teacher’s profile and information.
“This workshop provides me with valuable insights that will enhance my decision-making process. By understanding the data management system, I can confidently send my officers to attend similar workshops in the future,” Ms Bepwick said.
“Having hands-on experience in data management equips me with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. This workshop ensures that decisions are not made in isolation but are based on real data from various areas.”
All six Highlands provinces took part in the workshop. Similar workshops will be conducted for Momase, Southern and New Guinea Highlands Region.
