HUNTERS’ five-eight Joshua Lau is slowly regaining his form after returning from an ACL injury.

Lau sustained the anterior cruciate ligament on his right knee during the Hostplus Cup finals against the Sunshine Coast Falcons in September last year, which saw him missing most of the 2025 season.

The veteran playmaker returned to the field from the bench in Round 14 against the visiting Brisbane Tigers and also played in rounds 16, 17 and 18 as the starting five-eight for the PNG team.

During an interview today, Lau gave an update on his progress after the injury and challenges he encountered in trying to gain his form back.

“My body is good. I have return from injury and trying to pick my form. Every game I’m improving and trying to get better,” he said.

“Two weeks we had a bye so we had to rest and come back this week. The two weeks break really helped my body recovered from the injury.”

Lau stressed that he was slowly regaining his form while recovering from his injured knee.

He said his halves pairing with Finley Glare was not an issue as they had played together last season.

“It is very challenging especially coming from injury and trying to handle this positon towards the ending of the season,” Lau said.

He added that he was well prepared for this weekend’s home game. “It is a must win game as we only have two home games. We just need to tick each part of the training and let the game take care of itself,” Lau said.
