Secretary of the Department of Personnel Management (DPM) Taies Sansan has clarified that appointments to senior positions are governed by established frameworks designed to ensure competence and accountability.
“These processes are not discretionary they are not subject to personal preference or political convenience,” Ms Sansan said.
“I want to clarify that the appointment of the health secretary was carried out in accordance with due process, established policy, and the principles of merit and integrity.
Secretary Sansan emphasised that allegations of impropriety or corruption in the appointment process, especially those spread on social media without evidence, are unfounded and do not reflect the reality of the systems governing public service leadership.
“While public debate is a feature of democracy, public service must be guided by facts, law and institutional processes, not speculation or misinformation,” she said.
“The role of my department is not nearly administrative. Our mandate is to strengthen the system, set standards, and ensure coherence across government.
“We achieve this by maintaining a consistent recruitment framework, reinforcing performance management, and ensuring the integrity of leadership transitions,” Ms Sansan said.
