The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) has hosted its internal consultation meetings for the corporate and health services strategic development plan.

NCDPHA Chief Executive Officer Dr Robin Oge highlighted that they will have two more external consultative meetings with the provincial government, the District Development Authorities, development partners, and other stakeholders who work with us in the health sector in NCD.

“They will also provide their inputs and thoughts on the plan before it goes to the boards for approval and then launching.

“This is a very crucial plan for NCDPHA because it details the health service delivery that we intend to provide to the people of NCD for the next 10 years,” Dr Oge said.

He added that the primary focus of their plan was on the Motu-Koita people because they were the indigenous landowners of Port Moresby City.

“When we plan to deliver health services, we must take them into account,” Dr Oge said.

“The participants of the meetings are the CEOs, senior executive management, all our public health program managers, those who manage HIV, TB, lifestyle diseases, neglected tropical diseases, all clinic managers, the facilities team, and the biomedical team, who are all here to contribute to this last session before handing over to the external stakeholders,” Dr Oge said.

Dr Oge also called for the digitalization of services within the PHA.

“The processing of papers in NCD PHAs for the last 5 years has been done manually.

“Our staff have waited a longer time to receive their entitlements, and we want to move away from that.

” We want to process their entitlements efficiently, and we also want to reduce errors and fraud in the payment system as well. So, in that way, we are introducing software to manage this.

“It’s 2026, and the world is moving forward, and we need to use ICT in all the services, whether it will be in health or any other sector.

“The plan will be launched by the end of March this year,” Dr Oge said.
