Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae has presented the 50th Independence Anniversary King’s Medals to awardees from the National Capital District.
The presentation ceremony at Government House on Tuesday (Feb 17) featured prominent political, government, business and community leaders. It was the last of the nationwide presentation ceremonies for this special award.
More than 400 awardees in NCD were listed for the King’s Medal presentation but less than half attended the ceremony at Government House in Konedobu.
Political and government leaders who received the awards included Moresby North West MP, Lohia Boe Samuel, Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra, Clerk of Parliament Kala Aufa, Acting Electoral Commissioner Margaret Vagi, National Monitoring and Coordination Authority CEO David Wereh, Mineral Resources Development Authority Managing Director Augustin Mano and Telikom PNG Managing Director David Tepi.
Business and other leaders who received their awards, included Executive Vice Chairman of Deep Green Capital Ces Iewago, New Britain Palm Oil Limited Country Manager Robert Nilkare, International Training Institute Founder/Chairman Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval, Medical Specialist/Consultant Prof Dr Mathias Sapuri and prominent businesswoman Lady Ni Yumei Cragnolini.
Presentation ceremonies for the King’s Medal awards were held in other provinces following the Golden Jubilee celebrations in September last year. Several government departments also held their presentation ceremonies during the final quarter of 2025. All these ceremonies were hosted by the Governor-General, Sir Bob Dadae.
