NCD Police are concentrating on other policing duties while waiting for the title holder of the Erima Wildlife area to discuss matters with the Government, says Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police for the National Capital District and Central Provinces, Benjamin Turi.
ACP Turi also refuted claims and social media speculation, saying the eviction exercise would still continue.
He added that he was not happy with social media claims that they were silent about the eviction and would act if the title holder wants police assistance.
ACP Turi said police did not conduct evictions but provide security at the eviction sites when the genuine landowners present court orders requesting their assistance.
He said police respected all parties involved, including the government, the landowners, and the residents there.
“We only listen to the person requesting our service. If they ask us to help, we will assist; otherwise, we will continue with other policing duties. The social media speculation is fake, and it is not from me or Metsupt Simatab. We will find out who did this and deal with them accordingly. For now, we are not saying anything but will remain silent and wait for the parties involved when they want us to assist,” ACP Turi said.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab also confirmed that the news was fake and misleading.
He said the police were a disciplined force and made sure instructors came from the upper management, which was the office of ACP Turi.
He added that if ACP Turi confirmed that they had nothing to say on the eviction and were waiting for the title holder, then so be it.
Metsupt Simatab also confirmed that the news was not from him or ACP Turi.
