Over 200 graduate during IBS University graduation ceremony

The IBSUniversity in partnership with Southern Cross University hosted its 6th graduation at IBSUniversity Mt. Eriama Campus in Port Moresby toady.

 More than 200 students graduated with diploma, associate degrees and bachelor qualifications from the divisions of Accounting and Finance, Business and Management, Economics and Development studies and information technology.

IBSUniversity’s 6th graduation was celebrated alongside the formal recognition of the institution as a university with the successful passage of the IBSU Bill in parliament this year.

 With the graduation theme, “driving innovation and leadership in the modern world” the institution celebrated the achievements, resilience and future potential of graduates’ as the graduates prepared themselves to take on leadership roles in this ever evolving global landscape.

The chancellor of IBSU Mrs. Avivita Rapilla highlighted how the 6th IBSU Graduation came at a defining moment in the history of the institution itself.

“The successful passage of the IBSU bill in parliament represents years of perseverance and commitment inspired by the institution’s founding father, Sir Mick Nades”

She told the students that their graduation marks more than their academic journey that it represents their transition into a world that needs their leadership, ideas and integrity.

“You leave this institution not only with qualifications but also with responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the development of Papua New Guinea and beyond.” Said Mrs. Rapilla

The Minister for Higher Education Research Science Technology and Sports (DHERST) Mr. Kinoka Hotune Feo in his keynote address challenged the students to be entrepreneurs and create new job opportunities and trends for others around the world to follow.

‘”Let Papua New Guinea not follow the future but create it and lead it, with the knowledge, skills and qualifications attained, create and innovate new job opportunities and trends so that others can follow.”  Said. Mr. Feo

 Mrs. Rapilla also valued the southern Cross University’s partnership with IBSU and acknowledged its trust and confidence to partner with IBSU over the years.

“Your partnership and belief in our ability to deliver quality programs have played a significant role in expending opportunities for our students and expending our academic standing.” Said Mrs. Rapilla
