THE Pride of PNG Women Awards 2026 were officially launched today, with the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, praising the important role women play in strengthening communities across the country.
Speaking at the launch, Sir Bob acknowledged the continued commitment of CPL Foundation in recognising and empowering women throughout Papua New Guinea.
“The Office of the Governor General has been proud to serve as Patron of the Pride of PNG Women Awards since its inception in 2007, and to witness the growth and impact of this incredible initiative over the years,” Sir Bob said.
He said women across Papua New Guinea continue to make significant contributions to their communities, often without recognition, despite the far-reaching impact of their work.
“The Pride of PNG Women Awards provides an important platform to bring these contributions to light,” he said.
Sir Bob said the awards highlight the value of service, leadership and initiative at community level, while also creating opportunities for women to strengthen and expand their work.
“It is also encouraging to see that this program goes beyond recognition, by supporting these women and connecting them to opportunities that can help strengthen and grow their work,” he said.
He added that initiatives such as the Pride of PNG Women Awards contribute to stronger communities and support the overall development of the nation.
Sir Bob also commended CPL Foundation and its partners for their ongoing efforts in delivering the awards program.
“It is now my privilege to officially launch the Pride of PNG Women Awards 2026 and to declare nominations open,” he announced.
