THE Sir Theo Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to education by presenting K280,000 to the Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) in support of the Pari and Taurama Flexible Open and Distance Education (FODE) Centres.

Presented at Airways Hotel, the contribution marks the Foundation’s third consecutive year of supporting the two centres, bringing its total investment to K720,000 since 2024. The funding will support the continued operation of the Pari and Taurama FODE Centres from July 2026 to July 2027, providing young Papua New Guineans who have missed the opportunity to complete formal schooling with a pathway back into education.

Speaking at the presentation, Sir Theo Foundation Chairman George Constantinou said the partnership reflects the Foundation’s belief that education should remain accessible regardless of the challenges individuals may have faced.

“One of the convictions held by the Sir Theo Foundation is that a person’s education should not end because life got in the way. Not everyone gets to walk a straight line through school, and what matters is whether there is a way back on.”

Since first partnering with KTF in 2024, the Foundation has contributed K160,000 in 2024, K280,000 in 2025, and K280,000 in 2026, demonstrating its long-term commitment to second-chance education.

The impact of the partnership continues to grow. In 2025, enrolment across the Pari and Taurama FODE Centres increased from 108 students to 167 students, representing a 55 per cent increase, while every Grade 12 student either graduated or chose to continue their studies. The Kokoda Track Foundation was also formally recognised by the Department of Education for its contribution to flexible learning in Papua New Guinea.

Mr Constantinou said the Foundation’s investment was about creating lasting opportunities for young people.

“This partnership is about more than funding. It is about investing in people and ensuring young Papua New Guineans have the opportunity to complete their education and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.”

The cheque presentation forms part of the Sir Theo Foundation’s broader commitment to supporting education, health and community development initiatives that deliver meaningful and lasting outcomes across Papua New Guinea.
