Police investigations are currently underway into the destruction of airport facilities and properties by employees of two security firms at the Jacksons airport recently.
The two security firm employees that were embroiled in a confrontation include Kuima Security Services and Asila Security Services over the termination of Kuima security contract by the management of the National Airport Corporation (NAC).
Kuima Security General Manager Amosa Laufili while commenting on the extent of damage he said those involved including Kuima and Asila security guards will be dealt with by police.
“The police are now looking at the CCTV and whoever is responsible from my side or Asila side will assist the police. You know the procedures and protocols of this company, you cannot fight in your areas of responsibilities, and whoever is identified by the police will be terminated,” Mr Laufili said.
Mr Laufili said the management of the Kuima security will comply with police investigations.
Both security firms are suspended for 14 days from their operations at Jacksons Airport, allowing the police to carry out investigations.
The investigations will cover the operations of security companies, Kuima and Asila and Air Port Security, as well as the issues of the management of the National Air Port Corporation.
Prime Minister James Marape was not happy with the conduct of the security guards of both companies, Kuima and Asila and has called for police investigation and arrest of those involved in the incident.
“I am not running government for breaking rules, nepotism and fighting for positions or contracts to grow roots in our state-owned agencies. NAC, as a state agency, must rise above this sort of nonsense because work place safety is important for travellers, business and the community,” he said.
