NEW Ireland Provincial Administrator, Lamiller Pawut has rejected claims by Namatanai MP and Forests Minister Walter Schnaubelt on the alleged probe into the Lihir royalty funds.

Mr Pawut was responding to The PNG Bulletin story regarding Mr Schnaubelt’s direction to order criminal investigations into New Ireland Government over alleged misuse of K400 million Lihir royalty funds.

Minister Schnaubelt announced yesterday at a press conference that he has formally engaged the Director of the Criminal Investigation Division Chief Inspector Joel Simatab to begin the investigations.

Administrator Pawut in response however said he was not concerned at all.

“I reject this claim because I’m not concerned about being investigated, which I am not,  but I am compelled to defend the New Ireland Administration when I know we have complied with all public service processes when acquitting public funds.”
