
MORE than 300 Catholic Students of six high and secondary schools in the Tambul-Nebilyer district of Western Highlands province received vital messages of hope, inspiration and encouragement in their education journey as well as spiritual wellbeing and strength.
In a four-day retreat and leadership transformation event hosted at the St. Michael’s Sinsibai Parish in the Upper-Nebilyer over the weekend motivated students to know well their priorities, putting faith, family and education at the forefront to be God-fearing leaders and citizens of this country and to their communities.
The schools include Kiripia and Tambul Secondary School, Mt. Giluwe, Gia, Kagul and Upper Nebilyer High Schools.
Fr. Michael Anis of Kiripia’s St. Peter and Paul’s Parish led the concluding Holy Mass of Sunday, with Holy Eucharist celebrations and students also did a small hand-over and take-over ceremony of their Catholic Schools Spiritual Leadership baton, which the parish priest also witnesses.
Fr. Michael emphasis to the students to take priority into their life, by investing themselves though faith and education and looking after their families, communities and be good citizens of the national.
“You are the Salt of the Earth and Light unto the World,” the theme Fr. Michael emphasis on during the closing Mass.
Fr Michael urged the students to spread the Love of Christ and conform the Catholic Faith through Christ in their journey into the future.
The Catholic Students Retreat and Leadership transformation is an annual event, collectively organised by students themselves as a Faith-based fellowship group within the schools to uphold Christian Values and principles of Life,
Faith and Leadership.
The retreat will again be host at Kiripia Paris next year under the leadership of Manuel Waima, who takes over from Max Paraka.
