THE University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) Law graduate, Chamberlaine Manzanaik, has encouraged students to actively participate in school associations and extra-curricular activities during their time at university.
He said such involvement helps shape a stronger and more professional character.
In an exclusive interview with Sunday Bulletin after the 70th UPNG Graduation, Chamberlaine said that while balancing school, sports, and extra activities is challenging, it is all worth it in the end.
“It was really a challenge for me to juggle school work, sports and extra-curricular activities,” he said.
“But I would encourage students to take up those challenges because it will help motivate you and build your character in such a way that education alone could not.”
Chamberlaine said his journey at UPNG was more than just about earning a degree; it was also about making an impact on others and growing personally.
He regularly participated in awareness campaigns, student networking nights, and association events, which helped him develop the confidence and experience he has now.
“Events like carrying out awareness, school association events, and networking nights, could build you in such a way that it makes you more professional,” Chamberlaine said.
“So, I recommend students to get themselves involved in any extra-curricular activities as much as possible.”
He also dedicated his Law Degree to his hardworking parents, whom he described as his strongest support system.
“I watched them struggle to pay for my school fees and my other siblings. They’re very hardworking and they made sure I got the best of my education. So, this bamboo is for them. They deserved it,” Chamberlain said.
Looking ahead, Chamberlaine aspires to specialize in Commercial Law.
“I aspire to be a commercial lawyer. I like to get myself involved more in commercial activities and help in whatever way I could to carry this country forward from where it is now,” he added.
