Ms. Jebbista Jim, a first-year motor mechanics student, captivated guests, the public, and fellow students by demonstrating her skills in car engine repair, showcasing how women can excel in traditionally male-dominated fields.
Wearing blue jeans, Ms. Jim successfully started a wet engine of a Land Cruiser in front of key officials: Highlands Regional TVET Coordinator Mr. Melex Bosip (left), Provincial TVET Coordinator Mr. Niso Kobol (center), KEPI TVET mechanical instructor Mr. Jim Kanopali (blue shirt), and Provincial Guidance Officer Mr. Patrick Yapi (red coat).
This remarkable display took place on Thursday during KEPI TVET’s 18th graduation ceremony in Ialibu, Southern Highlands Province, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
Her demonstration not only challenged societal norms but also inspired many women in the audience.
The showcased engine was notably the same one used to transport the SDA World President, Ted Wilson, earlier this year—maintained by Ms. Jim’s father, Mr. Jim Kanopali, who is also her instructor.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Ms. Jebbista Jim is proudly continuing the family legacy in mechanical trade.
