NCC staff housing committee secures 100 homes

THE National Cultural Commission through the office of the Executive Director, Steven Enomb Kilanda has set up staff housing committee who will oversee and pilot the project under the Government housing basket scheme to be built at the Duran Farm, State allocated land outside, Port Moresby.

The management of National Cultural Commission (NCC) headed by Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda, who is determined to achieve its aspirations in service delivery and organizational dreams in which one of the goals is the staff housing.

The management is correct and consider it as one of its visions to embark on homeownership scheme program whereby the staff be assisted and given the opportunity to purchase a home for their families and their children.

The Office of the Executive Director, Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda sees the importance and basic needs of public servants of the commission in the city and he has taken a bold step to initiate and take advantage of the homeownership program introduced by the government.

Hence, housing is an important aspect of public servants, the National Cultural Commission, headed by Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda has established an internal housing committee comprising senior officers of the Project Office, Corporate and Policy Planning divisions to work in team aiming for one common objective.

The committee held its first meeting on Friday, 14 October, 2022 and resolved to pursue the home ownership scheme through the National Housing Corporation by establishing dialogues and contacts.

Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda disclosed in the initial meeting assuring the committee that all the officers and staff will be given a house provided that the commission will secure equity for each person to enable them secure a bank loan to purchase their house.

On this note, the committee has resolved to conduct various site visits with assistance of Senior Marketing staff of NHC to Durand Farm and indeed visited on Monday, 17 October, 2022.

The National Cultural Commission staff housing committee made the first move visiting Durand Farm, an area government allocated for home ownership scheme and houses will be constructed. However, the team extended its visit to Rhondes builders’ business site at Roku area to see model houses they build.

At the end of the trip successful trips covering Durand Farm and Rhodes business area, the committee with its internal media team was satisfied with Durand Farm upon seeing the beautiful open atmosphere in a small valley sitting on a comfortable portion of land hectare being allocated for home ownership scheme.

The Rhodes’ project site located at Roku village area was another exciting location featuring accommodation infrastructures on display in different sizes ranging from low cost to high set comprising two, three and four rooms. The costing depends on the financial capability of the staff and become eligible to borrow from any commercial bank.

The committee has commenced and is working tirelessly to achieve what is good for the staff to effectively perform their delegated duties and deliver as expected of them.

The commission is pursing the home ownership scheme to secure 100 houses to fit the current organisational structure in place.
