Deputy Prime Minister and Lae City Authority Chairman John Rosso has provided additional financial support of K55,000.31 to subsidise transport costs for the 35th National Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELC-PNG), to be held at Bunsil Station, Siasi District, from 18–23 January 2026.
The payment was made to JJ Ship Equip Agencies Limited, the agent of MV Sulu, covering the cost of the shipment of 91 pallets of general cargo including the food supplies provided by the LCA and 45 synod delegates from Lae to Bunsil.
This follows the earlier support of more than K70,000 in food items, mainly Roots Rice and Ramu Sugar, which were presented to the Synod Organising Committee last week.
The LCA support for the synod is to ensure that both supplies and delegates reach the host location in Siasi, enabling the church to successfully host this important national gathering.
Deputy PM Rosso said further logistical support will be provided if needed, together with security arrangements from Lae Police for the duration of the synod.
