A five-day workshop on Police Act Review & Constabulary Standing Orders underway

THE Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) is conducting a five-day workshop on the Police Act Review and the Constabulary Standing Orders (CSOs) at the Dixies Bungalow at the 17 Mile, Central province, Port Moresby.

The five-day workshop commences today Monday 14th October and will end on Friday 18th October 2024. The workshop is attended by the senior members of the Constabulary especially from the Southern, and Border Commands as well as the Officers from the Police Regional Training Wing.

The Assistant Commissioner Policy and Planning Division, Rigga Neggi said the workshop was to consult members of the Constabulary on the review of the Police Act 1998, and to conduct roll-out of the RPNGC CSO fourth version that was reviewed and updated in year 2022.

ACP Neggi said the workshop was also to conduct awareness of the RPNGC Corporate Plan 202-2030 as well as conducting awareness on the importance of the Annual Management Report (AMR) and standardized the RPNGC Activity Management Report (AMR)format.

He said the aim of the workshop was to establish a clear and standardized framework of guidelines, procedures, and the principles of effective and lawful operation of the Constabulary’s policing activities nationwide.

Mr Neggi said similar workshop will also be conducted in Mt Hagen for the members of the Constabulary in the Highlands East and West Commands, Northern Command in Morobe Province and East New Britain province for the New Guinea Island (NGI) and Autonomous Region of Bougainville Commands.
