OFFICIAL MEDIA STATEMENT
Monday August 5th, 2024: THE Australian Associated Press (AAP) visited the Sunday Bulletin newsroom in Port Moresby today and conducted a workshop with the staff of Sunday Bulletin News Company.
AAP’s Product Manager, Mr. Steven Jancetic, was accompanied by AAP’s Head of Strategic and Public Affairs, Ms. Delia Obst, on a visit to Papua New Guinea to provide training on a new initiative supported by the Australian Government.
This initiative offers news outlets, including the Sunday Bulletin, free access to the AAP Newswire, with the aim of strengthening news coverage in the Pacific.
As part of this program, AAP is offering a fully subsidized, Pacific-focused package of text and images, along with technical support and training for news media in the Pacific for a period of 12 months.
The training at the Sunday Bulletin enables reporters to access AAP’s media content and grants them the ability to edit AAP content to better suit the mass audience in Papua New Guinea. The training focused on basic website management and the digitalization of content for transmission over the internet or computer networks.
Mr. Jancetic emphasized that Australia is eager to learn more about Papua New Guinea, and the collaboration with a local news company is seen as a valuable opportunity to broadcast more about PNG to the world.
The Sunday Bulletin wishes to extend its appreciation to the Australian Associated Press for this initiative and looks forward to continued partnership.
