Airbus rep thanks Air Niugini for the partnership

The United States based financier of Air Niugini’s new Airbus A220 aircraft has commended the national flag carrier and the PNG Government for the partnership that has resulted in the successful delivery of the “People’s Balus” today.

Chief Marketing officer of Azorra financial services, Mark Davis applauded the hardworking people behind scene and hailed the partnership on the eve of PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary tomorrow.

“With the partnership and Airbus, Azorra is deeply proud to become the key aircraft financer and business partner with Air Niugini in a new delivery of this new Airbus A220, the People’s Balus,” he said.

Mr Davis described the Airbus A220 as the most modern, capable, fuel-efficient and narrow bodied aircraft. 

“On the eve of Papua New Guinea’s 50th Anniversary of Independence, the arrival of this equipment will bring the new era of mobility of the nation.  Connecting the country internationally, providing citizen, visitors with elevated comfort safety efficiency and improved links to global transportation operations,” he said.

Mr Davis thanked the hard-work and dedication of Air Nuigini’s senior management, board of directors, shareholders, fleet immigration teams and the skilled engineers.

“We have confidence that the implementation of this aircraft will drive prosperity, promote economic benefit and further highlight Papua New Guinea’s ongoing infrastructure.

“On behalf of our founder and chief executive officer John Evens and all the employees of Azorra, we wish you all a happy celebration and we look forward for the continued partnership going forward,” he said.

The People’s Balus landed successfully under the command of Captain Beverly Pakii and Captain Timothy Narara today at Jackson International Airport.

The APEC Terminal was filled with traditional dancers from various groups representing different provinces in Papua New Guinea to welcome the new aircraft. The road side was jammed with traffic and people crowded along the fences with swaying flag as the plane touched down.

The new aircraft was welcomed by Prime Minister James Marape, State Enterprise Minister William Duma, government ministers and dignitaries.

The Airbus A220 is the first under Air Niugini’s re-fleeting program. Two more will arrive at the end of the year.
