Ame Reings Band wins battle of the bands

AME Reings Band from Morata settlement in Port Moresby won the annual battle of the bands competition.

The competition was recently hosted at the Cosmopolitan in the National capital District.

As a newly established band comprised of talented boys, the band members contested by outclassing several other contestants.

Ame Reings Band is made up of five male who simultaneously play musical instruments and harmonise songs.

Band leader Thomas Pumi, also known as Kalu T has been a rising sensation in the music industry of Papua New Guinea.

Kalu became popular through his independence song recorded at Westside productions with DJ Manson in 2019.

Last year 2022, Kalu T and Joel Clyde Komun won the SP Lager Bungim Yumi song competition and took out cash prizes with record deals that was fully funded by SP Lager.

Kalu thanked the supporters of the bank, including his band members for putting tremendous efforts in winning the prestigious competition involving other talented group of band members.

“I’d like to extend my gratitude to our Morata and Southern Highlands community in Port Moresby for the continuous support since we started the competition till our victory.

“We wouldn’t have made it without the support of our fans and music supporters, including sponsors,” Kalu said.

The Ame Reings Band walked away with K10, 000 cash prize together with other complementary awards.
