Bulolo District presents acquittal

By GABRIEL KATUHO

THE Bulolo District is the first district in the MOMASE 1 present their acquittals for the year 2021, 2022 and 2023 to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development (DIRD) in Port Moresby.

MP Sam Basil Junior during the presentation elaborated on the role of districts in presenting acquittals with or without the Ombudsman commission’s push.

“I’m proud to be present today’s acquittals starting with the DSIP for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 which will lead us to the current update,” he said.

He said they (district) presented the District Service Grant (DSG) reports last year and now they are presenting acquittals for District Improvement Programmes (DSIPs) 2021, 2022 and 2023 that they received.

Basil said DIRD would review the reports and advise the district on the gap that needed to be addressed.

However, Basil believes that they (district) have comprehensively covered all necessary areas.

He thanked his District Administrator, Joe Paru, and other hardworking officers for their teamwork along with the District Administration in completing the report.

DIRD Deputy Secretary, Gordon Wafimbi commanded the Bulolo District administration for their efforts under the leadership of Basil Junior for the report.

“Well done and commendations to the effort and it’s good that you have consistently being reporting, you’ve seen the importance of reporting and your presence in here even though reporting is primarily the responsibility of the administration, but political support and the leader is there to place that emphasis and we are thankful for that and we appreciate that,” he said.

“For us, everything you are currently up to dating in terms of SIP and the DSGs so the good officers here will up-praise anything arising for that and will be communicated directly to your administration.”

Assistant Secretary for Momase One, Lydia Ekonia said form MOMASE One zone which covers Madang and Morobe, Bulolo was the first District to come with the 2023 DSIP report.

“I would like to say thank you for this report. We have got information that the physical part is not here, only the financial. Which is good. The physical part can be done by both the department of implementation and yourselves as independent reporting. For the physical part, though we have received all this acquittal reports, DIRD have to come to your district for the monitoring of what was presented in the report.”

She said they would make time to do ground assessment on the impact projects in the district.

She reminded the district of their five-year development plan urging them to work collaboratively with the National Planning to deliver the plan.

“National Planning oversee vetting of the five-year development plan because of the MTDP 4. So, all the five-year development plan must come in line with the MTDP 4,” she said.

Meanwhile, Basil said to arrange the time so DIRD can visit Bulolo and do the assessment on the ground to match the report.
