A MAJOR business in the country vowed to work with the new government when it is formed at the 11th Parliament.
Brian Bell Group chief executive officer Cameron Mackellar told this paper that as a business they would hope once the election is complete and a government is formed, they will crack-on and deliver better than promised for all PNG, citizens and businesses.
Mr Mackellar said they have had a very active capital investment plan in place for the past 6 years and will continue to invest in existing and new infrastructure over the next 3–5 year horizon.
“Brian Bell continues to invest heavily in PNG and our team.”
He said significant funds have been spent by Brian Bell in the past six years and they will continue that spending over the next 5-year horizon in order to deliver more contemporary retailing and wholesaling options for our customers.
“Given not much in the way of our category lines are manufactured in PNG, we naturally import a significant volume of product every month.
“We of course work closely with several PNG manufacturers or service providers wherever possible.
“We are always looking for new partnerships which will add value to our business and provide customers more choice,” he said.
Mr Mackellar said:
“Like all businesses who import large volumes of products, we have seen increases in cost to manufacture and shipping over the past couple of years, largely driven by Covid and other economic factors.
“However, we have worked hard to deliver a strong company performance for the first half of 2022.
“This is a great reflection on how hard our team has worked and contributed to those growing results.
“We look forward to the election completing and government being formed so we can all move this great country forward,” added Mr Mackellar.
