THE Cell Moni service provided by authorized Digicel Agents in PNG is continuing to grow nationwide, says Boroko Blue Fone House Kiosk Director, Raymond Patna Kambu.
In an interview with Sunday Bulletin, Mr. Kambu said the latest inclusion of purchasing tickets online using Cell Moni apart from its other services provided was a morale booster.
He reiterated that it was indeed a morale booster when heling a client purchase a PNG Air ticket online on a much cheaper rate.
“We have tried this service with a customer travelling from Port Moresby to Goroka,” Mr. Kambu said.
He said the customer went everywhere and the airline agents charged him K600 to K700 for one way.
“When he came to us, we did an online booking and when the reference number came out, we bought the ticket with K510 which was cheaper than the fees charged earlier by Air Niugini agents.”
“So, for the first time by selling this ticket, I am so happy and I want to tell the public in NCD that if you want travel in and out of Port Moresby but don’t have the time to go to a nearest ticket agent, you can come to Boroko and see my staff or myself to assist you get a cheaper plane ticket based on your budget,” he said.
He said through the Cell Moni services, you can do top up, pay easy pay, water bill and banking services from Mibank or Mama Bank where you convert your Cell Moni from your Wallet into your back card to do withdrawals.
Kambu thanked Digicel for giving him the opportunity to own the Blue Fone Haus.
“I am so privileged to own this container and I want to tell the public that we can now sell airlines ticket thought the Cell Moni based on an agreement signed recently with PNG Air,” he said.
Kambu said the ticket booked on line will give a six-digit figure containing the reference number.
“Then you can use Cell Moni to dial triple eight and option four to pay for the ticket,” he said.
Kambu’s story goes back some years as he started as a street seller until in 2016 where he was given this Kiosk.
“I started from scraps as a street seller with no money back then until in 2016. And with Digicel and Cell Moni, it gave me an opportunity to serve customers and this has assisted my family to come this far,” he said.
Kambu added that no one showed him how to do this.
“And when I show people and seeing many of them doing this at least it is an informal job that can look after their families.
And that satisfies me because if they don’t put a food on the table, many will steal on the street and we will have many law and order problems,” he said.
Kambu said he also have a dream to branch out nationwide and help those who are illiterate or those who don’t have any idea about Cell Moni, Mibank and the other services.
“In one way or the other I am just volunteering to help the unemployed tap into this instead of roaming around doing nothing.
So, with my intervention and my driving force, I want to show the public out there about Cell Moni its services that they can also do this,” he said.
With his dream he has so far covered places in the Highlands like Jiwaka, Simbu, Goroka and Lae.
“Like in Lae many youths from seventh street are my fruits and are now tapping into this and you can see them under Digicel or Cell Money umbrella.
I motivated and helped them to register sim card and so on and now they are earning K60 to K70 a day and they are thankful to Digicel but the biggest thing is that I opened their eyes,” he said.
Meanwhile Kambu thanked Digicel for helping smaller people like him through such Small Medium Enterprises.
“Many of us have benefited from this SME where Digicel did not give it to bigger companies but they gave it to smaller people like me to sell such products or services to make our daily living,” he said.
