COL welcomes Dr. Billy’s call to investigate the company

CONSTRUCT Oceanic Limited (COL) welcomes a call made by the Member for Nipa Kutubu Hon. Dr Billy Joseph to investigate the company’s record in some of the impact projects in Southern Highlands Province.

In a statement today, COL said it is incumbent for the MP, the projects owners and the people of Southern Highlands to know the realistic of the projects.

“As such, we acknowledge the Member for raising the concern on behalf of his people.

“The MP was very vocal on the Mendi-Nipa road sealing discussions, however, he brought in other issues of projects in SHP.

“We also acknowledge that and ready to respond to any upcoming investigation.”

Without giving much details, COL however, stated that other projects contracted to them in Southern Highlands have their own issues as to why they were not delivered on time.

“We will not elaborate details of their specific issues as we will provide that during the investigation.

“However, for the benefit of the general public, we would like to clarify a bit on the Mendi Town sealing.

“Most of us live in the cites and we all know what a Ashplant road. We can’t progress on the drainage and pavement without the Asplant plant been set up and it took time to bring in to the county since 2019.

“This exercise was further derailed by the COVID-19 restrictions including the violent 2022 election in SHP. However, now the plant is being set up and work will resume.”

For the stadium in SHP, COL briefly stated that Government owes COL K13 million and the stadium was 80% complete.
“When the government releases this money, it will be completed as all materials like light plant and everything is on site.

“For roads in Kagua Erave, we have done a lot with small funding including town roads to base course and line drain stage.

“We put gravel for 17km from Kagua station to Aiya. And for Polopa road, we progressed 2km without payment. It’s now up to the new DDA to let us continue or not.”

“As we welcome the investigation, we also want to appeal to the general public to understand the associated technicalities in every construction work before throwing mud at each other.”
