THE traditional deposit queues at the Bank South Pacific (BSP) branches across the country will no longer exist, thanks to the advanced innovation of ATM machine direct deposit by BSP.
BSP and NCR Atleos Corporation have signed a partnership yesterday (Friday) at Ravalian House in Port Moresby to make this innovation come to fruition in PNG by mid-2025.
CEO of BSP Group Mark Robinson highlighted the significance of this achievement.
“We will start in Port Moresby, Lae, and Mt. Hagen, then move to other centers and then right across the Pacific,” said Robinson.
“I was at Waigani Branch this morning (Friday morning), and we had a lot of people who queued up before the branches opened, and many of them were there to deposit money,” he said.
Robinson said that they are hoping this is a significant step to make banks more convenient by allowing people to not have to wait in long lines.
BSP hopes to bring customer service to the next level with the advanced technology of the day.
“We’ve spent a lot of time in the last 18 months looking at our operations trying to identify ways in which we can make smart inventions to offer more convenient banking, and this emerged as an option,” said Robinson.
He said through observations, BSP has decided to partner with NCR Atleos as they have the technology and history of providing innovative solutions through ATM network.
NCR Atleos, NZ and Pacific Sales Manager Peter Corkery said that NCR is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for bank customers.
He said their aim is to deliver an innovative financial solution by working alongside BSP.
Fees will still be included for deposits as the normal deposit.
The maximum amount of cash to be deposited is by two centimeters, and that is all notes.
The ATMs will come with security for the safety of the customers.
