This was cleared by the Waigani National Court Judge, Justice David Cannings in his judgment on June 8 when acquitting former National Capital District metropolitan superintendent Benjamin Turi from charges of unlawful deprivation of liberty, abuse of office and causing grievous bodily harm after finding that the State failed to establish its case.

It has been revealed that the subsequent arrest and charges on Mr Turi was illegal as he was basically executing his duties.

The National Court in Waigani established from the evidence that Mr Turi’s conduct was reasonable and in the course of discharging his duties as the then Metropolitan superintendent, pursuant to a habeas corpus issued by the National Court for Peter Koh Woo who was suspected to be unlawfully detained.

The incident occurred on June 16, 2016 between 7:45pm and 8pm when Mr Turi was accompanied by other policemen who raided a Gerehu Lodge in the suburb of Gerehu in search of the Malaysian.

Meanwhile, The PNG Bulletin confirms that another group of police personnel led by another senior police officer and now suspended ACP Sylvester Kalaut together with former Chief Migration Officer Solomon Kantha were behind the illegal arrest, detention and deportation of Peter Koh Woo.

The PNG Bulletin has finally confirmed the mystery as to how and why the Malaysian was hurriedly removed from the country.

A foreign logging company Cakara Alam was behind the deportation by collaborating with ICA officers and some policemen alleging Peter Koh Woo who was managing director of the said company at that time misappropriated substantial amount of money belonging to the company.

The foreign company then facilitated airline tickets on behalf of PNG Immigration officials to deport Peter Koh Woo out of the country claiming he was their employee and it was their responsibility to facilitate his deportation.

The PNG Bulletin further confirms that the former Chief Migration Officer at that time knowingly and collaborating with his officers (named) produced a fake deportation instrument and misled the then Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Rimbink Pato to authorize the Malaysian’s deportation.

Also the Office of the First Legislative Council further confirmed the instrument on Peter Koh Woo’s deportation never came from their office.

He (Peter Koh Woo) was deported using a Papua New Guinea emergency document which is unheard of as he was a foreigner and not a citizen of this country (PNG).

It is now clear that Peter Koh Woo’s deportation was pure jealousy and business interests after working for Cakara Alam for over 10 years, resigned and created his own company in the same industry to compete against his former employer.

The media is aware of an internal investigations sanctioned by the Minister for Immigration and Boarder Security Westley Nukundi Nukundj and awaits the findings to be revealed.
