Cultural Exhibition on Display at Momase RYG

The opening ceremony of the Momase Youth Games was beautified with the display of cultural attires and dances yesterday (Monday 25th of September 2023).

With each beat of the kundu drums, Bulolo in Morobe Province, East Sepik Province, Sandaun, Rivo in the North Coast and Malamal Primary School students of Madang, sang and exhibited their traditional dances and dramas onto the stage.

The interpretation of the unique cultural displays left one in awe
and great appreciation of the rich culture and traditions that PNG is blessed with.

After the cultural performances, Madang sensational and music legends Gedix Atege and Demas Saul from Tumbuna Tracks took on the stage and jamming out local hits that got the crowed grooving with excitement in the air.

The opening ceremony was graced with the presence of the Minister for Youth Religion and Community Development, Hon. Jason Peters, RYG Chairman and NYDA Director General, Mr. Joe Itaki, RYG Vice Chairman and Executive Director of PNGSF, Mr. Albert Veretau, RYG Host Chairman and Madang Mayor, Mr. Peter Yalsi, and Chief Censor, Jim Abani.

The theme “Go Rural, Go Global” ensures young people right at the ward level participate in such programs to display their raw talents not only engaging in sporting activities but also in traditional dances and dramas.

The games tournament will kick off today the 26th – 30th September.
