The Daru Assembly of the Revival Centers of Papua New Guinea is preparing to travel to Port Moresby today to attend the National Rally, a week-long gathering that will run from September 25 to 28.

Pastor Jack Kawi of Daru Assembly said excitement is building among members, as this will be the first major rally for many of them.

“We are ready to attend the National Rally which will be a week long, starting from the 25th of September,” Pastor Kawi said. “It will be our first of its kind for some of us to attend. We are fortunate to have it closer to us, and that is why many of us are going.”

The rally, held under the theme Acts 19:2-“Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?” is expected to attract participants from across Papua New Guinea and the Pacific, including delegations from Australia, Solomon Islands, and Fiji.

Pastor Kawi confirmed that more than 100 members from Daru and surrounding sub-centers have already travelled, with more preparing to depart this week.

When asked whether the church has received some funding to support them to travel the Pastor said;  “No, we did not get any help from government. We are digging from our own pockets to attend the rally,” he said. “Our main aim in attending is to see each other in fellowship, save more souls, and return with that experience to continue witnessing to more people.”

He emphasized that the Daru Assembly sees the rally as an opportunity to inspire change in Western Province.

“Our main aim is for Western Province to change their attitude,” Pastor Kawi said. “As we can see, there is an increased record of crime, and as Revival Centers of Papua New Guinea, we are trying to minimize that by sharing the gospel to all parts of Western Province.”

Members of the Daru Assembly will travel to Port Moresby by air, as sea travel has been deemed unsafe due to unpredictable weather.

The Revival Centers movement has been active in Western Province since the year 2000, marking 25 years of spreading what they describe as the “good news” of baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit.”

The upcoming National Rally is also being recognized as an international event, with overseas visitors expected to join local assemblies for days of worship, fellowship, and teaching.
