THE District Development Authority (DDA) of Dei District in Western Highlands Province is preparing to take legal action against the BSP Financial Group Limited (BSP).
This is in regards to an alleged facilitation of the withdrawal of close to K20 million in the district account in collaboration with the former regime during the eve of 2022 National General Election.
New Member for Dei, Steven Pim said about K20 million was in the account during the election periods but were withdrawn during the polling and counting periods.
He said this had happened also at the time when the Ombudsman Commission (OC) restricted the accounts for all districts and provinces nationwide.
“There was nothing left in the district’s account when I assume office,” Mr Pim reiterated.
“So, we will put on notice the responsible bank that has been facilitating the transaction of this huge amount of money amidst the strict restrictions by the OC,” Pim said.
He said other parties involved in facilitating the transaction will be also tasked to justify their reasons through the court.
Meanwhile, Mr Pim said he has assembled credible and formidable DDA team and is focused on the service delivery for his district.
Pim said his district was neglected by successive MPs but under his leadership, he wants major projects to commence early next year.
Mr Pim added that the DDA has mobilized K3 million already for first three projects.
These projects include; Mala to Minjim Road maintenance project, Solar Light project in the absence of upcoming major electrification project which the DDA expects to launch anytime soon, and School Uniform programme for all schools in Dei district.
In front of his new DDA members, Mr Pim presented K1 million cheque each to three different contractors for the three projects last Sunday.
Pim said his people deserve to be served with basic services therefore, he is taking this first step to ensure projects commence at earliest.
