Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Belden Namah has accused the Lands Department of selling traditional land to foreigners.

“Lands Departments is selling traditional land to foreigners without considering the landowners. It has to be stopped,” Mr Namah told Parliament on Wednesday.

“Get  the views and thoughts of land owners first before doing anything with their land.

“If land has been sold, it must go back to the owner.” Minister Namah said.

“I was surprised to see a lot of foreigners owning the land and how they owned those lands in our country.

“I didn’t discourage foreign investment to come, its a business but to get land, we must establish partnerships.”

Minister Namah urged Members of Parliament to support his call for the Lands Department to stop selling traditional land to foreigners.
