DIGICEL PNG in embracing the spirit of the giving this festive season visited iCare4U, an organization dedicated to providing care and support for abandoned women and babies living with HIV and orphaned children.
The visit marked a heartfelt gesture of giving back and underscored Digicel’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Digicel PNG Head of Marketing, Ms. Tessa Valace accompanied by Digicel staff representatives visited the centre at Gereka, outside of Port Moresby to present Five Thousand Kina cash with care packs to the iCare4U Founders, George Nita and Crystal Nita who received the items with much gratitude. Whilst presenting the cheque and hampers, Ms. Valace thanked George and Crystal for welcoming Digicel for the third year; and applauded them for the great work they do for the women and babies in the community and also commended them on their unwavering commitment in providing care to their residents.

“We believe in spreading hope and kindness”, said Lorna McPherson, Senior Vice President & Chief Sales Officer Consumer Sales of Digicel PNG. “To witness the resilience of the iCare4U organization, the women and children involved is truly humbling.
We are honoured to once again contribute to such a meaningful cause and to assist iCare4U to continue their service in providing both physical and emotional care and empowerment to the women in their care.
Together, we will continue to help create a future where everyone has the chance to thrive with dignity and hope.”
“On behalf of iCare4U, I’d like to say that we really do appreciate Digicel. There’s a newly
constructed building here, because Digicel has shown us that they are intentional in being a part of the support system we provide, and that Digicel does really give back to the community and we are a testament of this”, George Nita said.

Christelle Nita further added “More than 150 women each year go through different rehabilitation clinics to rebuild their confidence, self-worth and skill building in Port Moresby.
HIV, is not so much a death sentence anymore but really a matter of losing hope due to the stigma in society of rejection and isolation. All these lovely gifts and the donation will go towards helping and supporting the mamas’ and babies’ especially over the Christmas season where they are on the receiving end of your generosity”.
The visit to iCare4U ended with a short tour of the grounds and the new women’s housing complex built in partnership with Digicel Foundation.
iCare4U is a safe haven for disadvantaged women living with HIV who are faced with rejection and discrimination from their communities.
The centre also cares for orphaned infants who are born from similar circumstances and work closely with authorities in PNG and Australia to find families who are willing to adapt these disadvantaged babies and provide them with a safe and loving home.
