15 PACIFIC ISLAND UNIVERSITIES GATHER AT PNG UNITECH FOR NETWORKING CONFERENCE

The Papua New Guinea University of Technology is hosting the 2025 6th Pacific Islands University Networking Conference in Lae.

The conference started today and will end on Thursday, 3rd June. Representatives from 14 different universities all over the Pacific Region has gathered for this very significant event.

PIUNC’s general theme “Harnessing technologies for the safe and sustainable development of the Pacific” will not only explore the implications of new technologies for our region, but also the integration of traditional knowledge in developing solutions for challenges facing the Pacific.

This conference have always been interdisciplinary and inclusive, and this 6th edition is no exception.

“The conference is open to all disciplines, researchers and students from the region.”

The host organizers have emphasized on the general theme, which encompasses on sciences and technology, traditional knowledge, cultural practices, languages, arts, politics and education, but also Pacific studies, oceanography, biodiversity, climate science, health.
