MINISTER for Education, Hon. Lucas Dekena, has officially welcomed his colleague Ministers from the Pacific for a three-day Conference of the Pacific Education Ministers (CPEM) in Port Moresby, which is scheduled to commence tomorrow.
Minister Dekena welcomed them in a welcome dinner at the Hilton Hotel and Residences tonight ahead of the two-days high level meeting.
Present to welcome the delegates were senior government officials, led by Prime Minister James Marape, Minister for Department of Higher Education, Research and Technology (DHERST), Hon. Kinoka Feo, Minister for Department of Provincial and Local Level Government, Hon. Soroi Eoe, and Secretary for Education Dr Uke Kombra.

The CPEM will be hosted at the Apec Haus from the 18th -20th of March with the theme: “Transforming Edukesen for a Better Pacific” with Education Minister Lucas Dekena as the CPEM Chair.
The aim of the 2025 Pacific Education Ministers Meeting is to address key education priorities within the Pacific towards the goals of the Pacific Regional Education Framework.
Delegates from all of the Pacific have converged into Port Moresby since yesterday for the meeting.
Tomorrow, the Pacific Education Ministers will be discussing the common challenges and how to work together to harness new opportunities for educational growth in the Pacific region.
