20 students from Ijivitari district in Northern will leave the shores of Papua New Guinea to enhance their technical training expertise in Philippines this year. The Ijivitari District Development Authority (IDDA) has taken this initiative to secure scholarship for the students to attend technical training in various trade courses overseas.

Local MP and Vice Minister for Finance David Arore says, developing human resource in the district is a priority under the IDDA, which he heads as chairman. He says investing in human resource will set the pathway for the district to develop. He said another 20 students have been sent to Port Moresby Technical College this year to attend various trade courses.

He said the IDDA will also send five youths who have knowledge in auto mechanics skills to further their training in China. He said a technical college has been identified in China and an agreement has been sealed with the college to accept students from the district to pursue their training.

He said the five youths will undergo their schooling in auto mechanic with the college for a year.
‘’What we are doing is to empower our youths to gain skills and training. So that, when they return, they utilize their skills to develop the district,’’ Arore said.

‘’So far, so good. ‘’We are working around the clock to deliver much basic services to our people in the district and as such human resource development is captured in the IDDA to empower human resource in the district,’’ he said.
