UOG TO HAVE A NEW ADMIN BUILDING

By CLIFFORD FAIPARIK

A FIVE-STORY building to house the administration affairs of the University of Goroka (UOG) will be built at the cost of about K77 million in Eastern Highlands.

And UOG Vice Chancellor Dr Teng Waninga thanked the National Government especially the Higher Education Research Science and Technology Minister Wesley Raminai for supporting the UOG to get this building.

“This Central Administration Building is important.

“This building is to centralized all services and offices of all the executive deans, finance, student services and other services providers into one building.

“We will keep all the services in one building.

“Because the infrastructure now we are having is from the old Goroka Teachers college days.

“We only have   one seven story building for the dormitory that was also built by the Chinese Government.”

Dr Waninga said that the UOG campus is on a hill and is small.

“So, we can’t expand side way.

“We have to go up.

“And when we have this new Central administration Building, all the services providers will move in and their current offices will be converted into may be 10 classrooms for students learning.”

Dr Waninga said that the new Central administration building will be built by the China Rail way engineering group of companies.
