Lagaip Open MP, Aimos Akem released a blatant statement saying every districts in Enga is now run by guns, meaning warlords are seemingly becoming superiors in every village settings.
MP Akem made this statement after a deadliest massacre at Sirunki area in Lagaip district on Tuesday, October 22nd which was believed to be a payback killing.
Akem, despite of his busy schedule to attend to his Election Petition court trial that is still progressing all through this week, he rushed to his electorate the next day after the killing to address the family of deceased and perpetrators in order to bring peace among the tribes.
He said the only thing the Provincial and National Government need to do is to find a way to take all these guns out from the hands of these so called warlords.
Akem has also appealed to the National Government to declare State of Emergency (SOE) in his district immediately.
“Declare SOE and hunt down the guns,” Akem strongly said.
He said the recent killing was the continuation of the Porgera fight.
“This is not a Lagaip fight rather it’s the Porgera fight my people in Lagaip are now badly affected,” Akem said.
“Therefore I need the Government to declare SOE in the district now,” he added.
During his visit to the relatives of the deceased and surrounding communities in Sirunki, the Lagaip MP made a commitment to provide support in buying caskets for the deaths and also to assist in taking the corpses up to their respective villages.
“Lagaip DDA is fully behind the affected people of Sirunki and Lagaip District as a whole,” MP Akem said.
