THE Department of Finance has rolled out its Electronic Fund Transfer process to the National Procurement Commission.

Finance Secretary Samuel Penias emphasised that the EFT roll-out would eliminate fraudulent transactions.

“We are creating an environment where there is transparency and accountability in the process that we run.

“EFT is the way to go, and we’d like to disseminate it to other departments as well.

“Like I’ve said, this is what the Government wants us to do, and this is the way we will have to do that.

“The other processes that we also run, digitalisation is another one that we use the same platform, but a different mechanism,” Mr Penias said.

Finance Deputy Secretary Stephen Nukuitu said: “Today, NPC will be leading the way to embrace what we have been working on over the last two years.

“EFT is very much dependent on the internet and also the accessibility,” he said.

National Procurement Commission Chief Executive Officer Joe Sapa expressed gratitude to the department for its support.

“I am honoured on behalf of the NPC for being selected as the first public body,” Mr Sapa said.
