The first batch of 312 police recruits from the Southern and Momase regions will start six months training at the National Centre of Excellence in Bomana, NCD, on July 29.

The recruits were selected from 18,460 applicants nationwide. Of these, 4016 applicants from the Southern and Momase regions were shortlisted and vetted but only 312 passed the required assessments to proceed to training.

The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) emphasized its ongoing commitment to gender equality in policing, noting that among the 312 recruits, 42 are female.

The list of successful candidates will be published later this week on the RPNGC’s official website at www.rpngc.gov.pg and on the RPNGC Official Facebook Page. In addition, offer letters and joining instructions will be emailed directly to the selected candidates using the addresses they provided during the application process.

“These instructions provide comprehensive information on the Training Program, including necessary preparations,” the RPNGC Recruitment team noted.

The HR Recruitment Team has coordinated with Provincial Training Officers to organize the arrival of recruits in Port Moresby. Recruits from Oro (9), Western (9), Sandaun (15), East Sepik (35), Madang (21), and Morobe (67) will travel to NCD between July 25 and 27, while those from NCD (125), Central (30), and Gulf (2) will join them on July 27.

Before beginning formal training at Bomana, the recruits will undergo a second and more comprehensive medical check, including blood and drug tests, to ensure fitness for duty.

Meanwhile, the list of shortlisted candidates from the Highlands and New Guinea Islands regions, who will make up the second batch of 2025 recruits, will be made public after it is finalised.

“The Recruitment Process for the second batch will commence in October or November 2025 to assess those shortlisted and recruit the successful candidates for training,” the Constabulary said.

“The second batch is likely to come in for training in the first quarter of 2026 once the recruitment process is completed.”

The RPNGC also announced that a new recruitment drive for 2026 would be advertised in December 2025, and has encouraged all interested applicants to begin preparing.

“We encourage those interested in joining the next recruitment to prepare their documents and stay informed by regularly checking the RPNGC’s official website and Facebook page for recruitment announcement.”
