ABOUT forty (40) secondary school teachers from the Port Moresby Northeast Electorate have received an early Christmas gift from local MP Hon. John Kaupa—a gift that goes beyond material support and aims to uplift education standards in his district and the National Capital District.
In a collaboration with International Business and Technical College (IBTC), each teacher received a computer to aid in classroom teaching, coupled with specialized training on practical computer skills.
They include 20 teachers from the Marinville Secondary School and 20 from the Della Salle Secondary School at Bomana.
This program, facilitated by IBT College, is not a basic computer course; it is an advanced step that equips teachers with real-world digital skills they can directly apply in their classrooms.
The training initiative emphasizes hands-on learning and prepares teachers to confidently integrate technology in their teaching methods, ultimately benefiting students and enhancing the learning experience across schools.
Hon. John Kaupa’s support highlights the critical role of teachers and showcases a commitment to advancing educational resources and capabilities in the region.
IBTC chief executive officer Mr. Sunny Sun said the initiative marks a forward-thinking approach to preparing educators for the digital age and reinforces the community’s dedication to improving the quality of education for future generations.
He said IBTC as an emerging IT, business and technical training provider is pleased to offer such crucial training for teachers, basically tailored to enhance and improve their skills, knowledge and competencies in the classrooms.
The two weeks intensive training commences on Monday 4 November and will end on 16 November 2024.
